Margaret A. Trca, 89, of Garner passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Concord Care Center in Garner.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan with Rev. Fr. Andrew Marr officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 11th at Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St. in Garner with a Scriptural wake service at 3:30 p.m. followed by a Catholic Workman Rosary.

Margaret Alice Trca, the daughter of Peter and Mary (Ledden) Thul, was born December 31, 1933, in Clarion, Iowa. She graduated from Clarion High School in 1952. Margaret continued her education at St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Fort Dodge becoming a Registered Nurse in 1955. She worked in Clarion Hospital after her graduation. On June 24, 1958, she was married to Anton Trca at St. John’s Catholic Church in Clarion. They made their home on an acreage northwest of Garner. In 1964, they moved to the Trca family farm east of Hayfield where they raised their family and operated a dairy farm. After her children were grown, Margaret returned to nursing working at Mercy Hospital in Mason City and Concord Care Center in Garner until her retirement in 2009. She enjoyed her family; helping take care of many neighbors, relatives, and friends; and baking pies, rohliky and kolaches.

She was an active member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church where she belonged to Rosary Society, and Catholic Workman FCSLA w51.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Anton of Hayfield; six children, Catherine Newman of Germantown, WI, Kevin (Cindy) Trca of Swisher, IA, David (Melanie) Trca of Springville, IA, Gerald (Melissa) Trca of Marion, IA, Colleen (Hans) Hutton of Kansas City, MO and Susann (JD) Schlotterback of Naples, FL; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; a sister, Delores (Jerry) Brenny of San Jose, CA; a brother-in-law, Dean (Millie) Ricke of Garner; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Angela Strassman, Betty Schneider, and Sister Loretta Thul; two brothers, Paul and Patrick Thul; and sister-in-law, Eleanor Ricke.
