Ervin Mohring, 93, of Charles City, passed away Monday, April 10, 2023, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
A funeral service will be held at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home on Friday, April 21, 2023, at 10:30a.m. with Erik Hoefer officiating. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Ervin Reinard Mohring, the son of Otto and Bertha (Thiem) Mohring, was born on May 27, 1929, in Floyd County at home on the family farm. He attended rural Floyd County School. Ervin and Madonna Springer were united in marriage on September 5, 1953, in Tawilla, Utah.
Ervin was in the United States Army. He was employed in Charles City at Oliver and Salsbury. He also farmed his entire life on his family’s farm and then his own farm north of Charles City. Ervin was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City, and a charter member of the Osage Sams Camping group.
Ervin enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, and family gatherings. Ervin and Madonna would travel to Texas every winter for 22 years. His greatest joys were his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Living family members include his daughter and son-in-law, Linda (Terry) Stewart of Charles City; two grandchildren: Holly (Ryan) Wright and Amanda (Jack Wilhelmi) Stewart; two great grandchildren: Hunter and Tatiana Wright; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Madonna; his parents; and his sisters and brothers: Ernest, Otto Jr., Myrtle, Margaret, Alfred, and Doris.
