CHARLES CITY – A Charles City traffic stop led to the arrest of a wanted man toting illegal drugs and a barred driver.

On March 25, 2023, an 12:24 AM, officers with the Charles City Police Department spoke to a subject in the 500 block of Allison Street.  As a result of the investigation, 24-year-old Austin J. Pitz of Charles City was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.  He was also cited for no insurance and driving while barred. Additionally, a passenger, 30-year-old  Joshua Caleb Burrell of Nashua was arrested for a valid Floyd county warrant for probation violation, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, and cited for open container as a passenger.

Both men were jailed, and Pitz was soon released pending future court dates, while Burrell remains jailed.
