Joseph (Joe) Michael Reuter of Mason City, Iowa, passed away March 26, 2023 at North Iowa Hospice, after a long battle with heart and kidney disease.
December 18, 1958 – March 26, 2023
A celebration of his life will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2023 at the Mason City VFW, 1603 S Monroe Ave, Mason City, IA.
He will be laid to rest 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City, IA.
If friends desire, memorials may be directed in care of his family.
Joe was born to Wilfred (Mike) & Mary (Goetz) Reuter on December 18th, 1958 in Mason City, Iowa.
A 1977 graduate of Newman Catholic High School, he received his automotive degree at NIACC which allowed him to work on his big motivator in life – cars. Racing was his passion. He spent many years at the local speedway, both as a driver and a crew chief; watching NASCAR every Sunday to traveling throughout the Midwest to the speedways. After he retired his racing gear, he picked up a pool stick and enjoyed playing in the weekly pool league.
Joe is survived by his wife of 41 years in May, Vicki Mitchell; three children: Mike (Juliet) Reuter, Milton, Florida; Jen Reuter of Mason City, Iowa; Katie (Tyler) Roney of Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren: Baya, Zhané, Bradic, Arlo and Adeline; and his sister, Jane (Fred) Ogez. His best friend of many years, John Harbacheck; Spencer Jordahl, Bradic and Arlo’s dad, along with many extended family members.
Greeting him in heaven are his parents; his brother, Tom; his in-laws, Tom and Pat Nangle; angel granddaughter, Charlotte Roney, and nephew, Ricky Ogez.
A special thanks to the numerous doctors, nurses and caretakers that cared for Joe over the years – your compassion did not go unnoticed.
