Nicholas Wayne Mart, the son of Earldean and Ruth (Hageman) Mart, was born on March 29, 1957, in Estherville, Iowa. He died on March 15, 2023, at his home in Armstrong.

Nick graduated from Armstrong High School in 1975 before attending Iowa Lakes Community College where he earned an associate’s degree in data processing.

He married Suzanne Torres on May 14, 1988, at the Free Methodist Church in Armstrong.

Nick worked in IT for Winnebago Industries for many years. Recently he worked for the City of Armstrong.

He had an ABC Family membership, was on the Armstrong City Council, and a former Jaycee. In his free time, Nick enjoyed camping, spending time with his grandchildren, sports, reading, golfing, and hunting. He has been Santa’s helper since 1987.

Nick is survived by his wife of 34 years, Suzanne; his children, Chad Clarey, Fairmont, Cassandra (Kyle) Rolling, Swea City, Danielle (Craig) Merrill, Armstrong, Anthony (Erica) Buum, Everly; Fernanda (Alonso) Santos, Salvador Brazil; 13 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; his brothers, Gary (Rhonda) Mart, Carroll, and Tim Mart, Baudette, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earldean and Ruth (Hageman) Mart, and his sister, Dianna Zechmeister.

Nick’s family suggests memorials to the National Down Syndrome Society, www.ndss.org.
