Key Storylines

  • Iowa State and Baylor were tied at 63-63 with 4:07 to play, but the Cyclones scored the final 11 points of the night to secure the victory and remain in Kansas City.
  • ISU was led by the Big 12 Player of the Year Ashley Joens, who finished with 30 points and 15 rebounds. It was the ninth game of at least 30 points and 15 boards in ISU history, six of which have come from Joens.
  • Joens leads the Big 12 and ranks 10th nationally with her 21.3 points per game. She is also second in the Big 12 with 9.6 rebounds per contest. Joens has scored in double figures in all but one of ISU’s games, going over 20 17 times and having 14 double-doubles.
  • Joens enters Saturday’s contest on 2,987 career points, just 13 shy of becoming the 14th player in NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball History to reach 3,000 career points.
  • Emily Ryan reached her own scoring milestone against BU, becoming the 34th player in ISU history to reach 1,000 career points, finishing with 15.
  • An All-Big 12 Second Team member, Ryan does a little bit of everything for ISU, as she averages 10.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and  6.7 assists per game.
  • Ryan played all 40 minutes against Baylor, matching the school record for career ‘complete games’ with 18, shared with Stacy Frese (1998-00).
  • As a team, ISU ranks second in the country with a team free throw shooting percentage of 80.2. That is led by Ryan, who is second nationally with a 92.7 percent FT percentage, including going 7-of-7 vs. the Bears.
