Rosanne Schmit , age 88, of Algona passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona.

Rosanne Schmit , age 88, of Algona passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 13th, 2023 at 10:30AM at the Devine Mercy Catholic Parish – St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Algona. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023 from 4:00PM until 6:00PM at Lentz Funeral home in Algona.

Rosanne Amanda Schmit, the daughter of Peter and Hilaria (Bormann) Erpelding was born on April 7, 1934 in Algona. Graduating from St. Cecelia Academy in 1952. On November 16, 1955 Rosanne was united in marriage with Michael P. Schmit at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Rosanne helped Mike working on the farm and taking care of their family, where she lived until her passing. Rosanne was a faithful member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church, helping with funeral dinners and attending many years of Adoration Chapel hours. Rosanne enjoyed traveling, especially to Europe, where they attended The Passion Play. She loved attending her grandchildren’s activities, family gatherings and visits with friends and relatives. Rosanne was also a member of the Red Hat Ladies and Leader of a 4H Club.

Left to cherish Rosanne’s memory is her daughter Denise and husband Bill Grandgenett of Algona; three grandchildren Sophia (Kyle) Travis of Harlan, IA, Emma and Jack Grandgenett; sisters, Mary Illa Kisch of Algona, Madonna (Gary) Johnson of Estherville, IA, Janet (Lewis) Elbert of Clarkston, MI, brother Jim (Judy) Erpelding of Golden, CO; sister-in-laws, Bonnie Erpelding of Algona and Donna Thilges of Urbandale, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Maurice, Gerald and Marvin (Mary Catherine) Erpelding; brother-in-laws, Thomas Wagner and Ed Kisch; sister-in-laws, Dorothy (Thermon) Pruitt, Sarah (Damian) Centgraf, Mary (Ed) Majerus and Cecelia (Leonard) McGuire.
