CEDAR RAPIDS – Three teen girls were nabbed by cops and charged with felonies after robberies at Iowa convenience and grocery stores.

Cedar Rapids Police arrested three individuals in connection with two related robberies. On February 11, 2023, officers investigated early-morning robbery complaints at a convenience store in the 1600 block of 32nd St NE and soon after, at a grocery store in the 800 block of 6th St SW. No injuries were reported at the 32nd St NE incident but there was a minor injury sustained by a victim at the 6th St SW incident. Suspect and vehicle descriptions matched witness statements and officers located the suspect vehicle and the three suspects a short time later.
Following interviews with officers and investigators, the following individuals were arrested:

• Janiah Jones, age 18, two counts of Robbery 2nd (no photo available)
• Ja’nvia Schexnayder, age 17, Robbery 2nd (no photo available)
Robbery is a forcible felony. Police said that by law, an arrest of a juvenile for a forcible felony can result in the suspect’s name being released publicly.
Police say there is an ongoing investigation into these crimes.
