WEST UNION, IOWA – A Northern Iowa man took police on a dangerous high-speed auto chase before finally stopping.
On March 6, 2023, the West Union Police Department attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle for a simple equipment violation. While officers were approaching the vehicle, the driver took off and lead officers on a 20-minute pursuit with speeds reaching 95 miles an hour, stretching from West Union to Hawkeye where the driver stopped the vehicle and ended the pursuit. Officers apprehended the driver and identified him as Dion Moore.
Moore was subsequently arrested for Eluding, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Driving While Suspended, No Insurance, Reckless Driving, and numerous traffic violations. Moore was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he awaits his initial appearance.
The West Union Police Department was assisted by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, and Moss Service Center.
