TITONKA, IOWA – A Northern Iowa man was tazed and arrested after impersonating an officer and striking a cop.
The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office reports that on March 5, at about 7:36 AM, the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an individual causing problems at the apartment complex in Titonka, which is located at 324 Ave NE. It was reported a male was pounding on an apartment door and identifying himself as law enforcement.
When deputies arrived, the individual was identified as Shawn Krug, age 43 of Titonka. Krug had barricaded himself inside of his apartment. When deputies attempted to communicate with Krug, he threw an object though a window, nearly striking an officer. After verbal communication failed, deputies deployed a taser in an attempt to control the situation. During the physical confrontation, Krug struck one of the officers in the face, causing an injury.
Krug was arrested and transported to the Kossuth County Jail after being checked by medical staff at the Kossuth Regional Health Center. The deputy was treated and released from Kossuth Regional Health Center with a laceration to his face requiring stitches.
Krug was charged with:
– 1 count of Impersonating a Public Official
– 2 counts of Harassment
– 1 count of Interference with Official Acts
– 2 counts of Assault of a Peace Officer
– 1 count of Disorderly Conduct
– 1 count of Criminal Mischief
