Harriet Ann Janson, 104, of Mason City, IA, passed away February 20, 2023, at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City.
A funeral service will be held 11:00AM, Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 North Delaware Ave, Mason City, with Reverend Sean Smith officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Clear Lake Cemetery in Clear Lake, IA.
Harriet was born September 5, 1918 in Fairchild, WI; daughter of Archie and Eva (Elsner) Bequette. She grew up in Fairchild and graduated from Fairchild High School. She met and married Leonard Gorkowski July 10, 1938, in Mason City. Leonard passed away in 1984. Harriet then went on to marry Harley Janson May 1, 1993 in Clear Lake. Harley passed away in 2002. Harriet was a Clear Lake resident for over 50 years before she moved back to Mason City in her later years.
Harriet absolutely loved to walk and learn. She was a world traveler and always loved to play cards and shuffle board. She spent fifty years wintering in Weslaco, TX and always kept track of the Minnesota Twins games. Harriet was also a devout member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Harriet is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Millard of Mendota Heights, MN; grandchildren, BJ Millard of South St. Paul, MN, and Mari Millard (Marnie Hammel) of Hilton Head Island, SC; and great-grandchildren, Kiptyn Hammel-Millard, and Keatyn Hammel-Millard.
Harriet was preceded in death by her son, Alan Jay Gorkowski; husbands, Leonard and Harley; parents, Archie and Eva; and brothers, Orville Bequette and Donald Bequette.
