NIACC softball players Laken Lienhard and Ravyn Krachey earn conference pitcher and play of the week awards

MASON CITY - For the second time this season, NIACC softball players have earned both the ICCAC pitcher and player of the week awards.

MASON CITY – For the second time this season, NIACC softball players have earned both the ICCAC pitcher and player of the week awards.

NIACC sophomore Laken Lienhard was the ICCAC Division II pitcher of the week and sophomore Ravyn Krachey was the league’s player of the week for the week of Feb. 20-26.

For the week of Jan. 30-Feb. 5, NIACC’s Brynn Stalberger was the league’s pitcher of the week and Emily Jones was the player of the week.

Lienhard tossed a pair of shutouts at the Southeastern Turf Tournament in West Burlington last weekend.

The right-hander struck out 20 with two walks in 12 innings of work. She allowed two hits in a 7-0 win over Southeastern and struck out 11 in a 10-0 win over Kankakee CC.

Lienhard ranks fifth on NIACC’s career strikeout list with 184.

Krachey, a sophomore third baseman, was 10 for 12 (.833), including six doubles, with 12 RBIs in NIACC’s six wins last weekend. Krachey is hitting .682, which ranks third in NJCAA Division II, with seven doubles and 19 RBIs.

Both Lienhard and Krachey will participate in the inaugural NJCAA Women’s Wrestling National Championships Friday and Saturday in Council Bluffs. Lienhard is the top-ranked wrestler at 143 pounds and Krachey is ranked seventh at 170 pounds.

No. 17 NIACC (10-0) returns to action Sunday at Iowa Western.
