OBIT: Bonnie M. Nettleton

Bonnie was a life-long resident of Mason City, Iowa until 2017 when she moved to The Waters Assisted Living Facility in Eden Prairie, MN. She died February 24, 2023, at M Health Fairview Hospital in Edina, MN.

Bonnie May (Leaman) Nettleton, 94, of Eden Prairie, MN died February 24, 2023, at M Health Fairview Hospital in Edina, MN. Bonnie was a life-long resident of Mason City, Iowa until 2017 when she moved to The Waters Assisted Living Facility in Eden Prairie, MN.

A memorial service will be held in Mason City at a later date. Inurnment will follow at Elmwood-St Joseph Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Macular Degeneration Foundation.

Bonnie was born May 16, 1928, in Mason City, Iowa to Glenn and Lena (Cummings) Leaman. She graduated from Mason City High School and completed her nursing degree at St Joseph’s Mercy Hospital.

On September 30, 1950, Bonnie married the love of her life, Dr. Terrance (Terry) Nettleton at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Bonnie continued to work as a nurse at St Joseph’s Mercy Hospital until Terry returned from Korea in 1953 when she devoted herself to being a full-time homemaker.

Bonnie was devoted to Terry and enjoyed playing golf and was an excellent bridge player. She enjoyed her many friends in the Mason City community. Bonnie loved to cook and experiment with new recipes and she was known as an amazing hostess. Bonnie and Terry traveled and spent several winter months in Arizona after retirement. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she was so proud of her entire family.

Bonnie is survived by her children; Cynthia Hauck and husband Dr. James of Naples, FL, Diane Lantvit and husband Edward of Fremont, WI, John Nettleton and wife Kathleen of Plymouth, MN, and Kurt Nettleton of Hopkins, MN; 7 grandchildren: Andrew (Elizabeth), David (Laura), Jeffrey (Lindsey), Matthew, Grady (Annie), Thomas, and Emily; 1 step granddaughter: Molly (Emanuel) Whiteman: 8 great grandchildren: Maddie, Josie, Kate, Olive, Reid, Oliver, Hazel and Remy, 3 step great grandchildren; Eugene, Florence and Loretta. She is also survived by many brother in laws and sister in laws as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Terry, her parents Glenn and Lena, her sister Shirley (Leaman) Stott and daughter in law, Susy Nettleton.
