Lamar Douglas Anderson, 53, of Mason City, Iowa; passed away February 21, 2023 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00PM, Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Masonic City, IA 50401.

Lamar was born October 17, 1969, in Mason City; son of Darrell and Ramona (Harpel) Anderson. He was a life-long resident of Mason City. From an early age, he was an absolute character. If it meant he could make someone smile; he’d do just about anything. Lamar has always been the singer in the family. Everyone has a memory of him singing away. When he wasn’t singing; he’d also do impressions or whistle. Any tune in the world; if he knew it he could whistle it. He’s always enjoyed life on the wild side and found fun in everything. Lamar was loved by everyone. He loved riding his bike, fishing, and keeping things neat and tidy. Lamar met the love of his life, Nikki Kriens, October 19, 2020, and thoroughly enjoyed taking care of her. He loved the weekly dates with her at Las Palmas. Lamar also enjoyed cooking, gardening and spoiling their two dogs, Brownie and Ginger; affectionately called “the girls”. He played a great role in many people’s lives and he will be greatly missed. His biggest regret was not being there for his children in their early years. In spirit of this, he always tried to play the part in people’s lives that they may have been missing. His grandchildren were his world and he’d do anything if it meant he could spend time with them. In his later years, he began living less day by day and looking further towards the future. His family loved to see this change in him.

Lamar is survived by his fiancée, Nicole “Nikki” Kriens; children, Ramona Robinette, Ricki Westendorf, Brandi Bailey, Holly Bailey, Linda Kriens, and Kadan Kriens; grandchildren, Mariana Vega and Destiny Anderson; siblings, Gene (Gale) Anderson, Orville (Nancy) Anderson, Pamela (Larry) Robinette Henry (Lori Portis) Anderson; sister-in-law, Maria Anderson; many beloved nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.

Lamar was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Ramona; siblings, Scott and Penny Jo.

We will ride again Brother.
