JoAnn M. Harken, 81, of Holland, IA, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, IA. Following JoAnn’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life for JoAnn will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church with Pastor Luke Wolfe officiating. JoAnn Marie (Van Lengen) Harken was born on August 25, 1941 in New Hartford, Iowa the daughter of Paul and Vera (Sells) Van Lengen. She was raised and educated in the New Hartford school district, where JoAnn graduated from New Hartford High School.
On January 1, 1960 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Kenneth Ronald Harken in Cedar Falls, Iowa. From this union the couple were blessed with three sons: Bryan, Craig, and Kevin. JoAnn worked in the dietary department of the Grundy County Memorial Hospital. She was a proud member of the Colfax Center Presbyterian Church.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Craig (Mary) Harken and Kevin (Amanda) Harken; brother: Scott Van Lengen (Chuck Anderson); 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Harken; son Bryan Harken; parents, Paul and Vera Van Lengen; and grandson Nik Harken.
