DES MOINES – Iowa Democratic lawmakers in the Legislature have introduced a bill to legalize marijuana.
“Today we introduced a bill to legalize marijuana in Iowa,” democrats in the Iowa House said in a statement Tuesday. “(We have) heard from people of all parties who believe it’s time to legalize in order to keep Iowans safe, stop $$ from going to neighboring states, improve our quality of life, and stop unfairly punishing Iowans.”
While this bill is a major goal for Democrats, some Iowa Republicans say they will never support legalization of marijuana here. As the Iowa Legislature – not to mention the Governor’s chair – is controlled by Republicans, this bill likely has little chance of succeeding.
