College Basketball: Iowa seeks victory Wednesday night in Badgers’ den

MADISON, WISCONSIN – Iowa’s season doesn’t get any easier coming off a road loss to Northwestern, as the Hawkeyes swoop into Wisconsin’s Kohl Center to face the Badgers Wednesday night.

Iowa’s 9-game winning streak over Northwestern came to a screeching halt tonight as the Wildcats humbled the Hawkeyes, 80-60. Shooting for distance was a huge problem for Iowa, going a woeful 3-24 from 3-point-land.

Iowa begins this week in a four-way tie for fourth place in the Big Ten standings with Maryland, Rutgers, and Michigan – all of whom Iowa has beaten.  After starting league play 0-3, Iowa has won nine of its last 13 games since Jan. 5.

Wednesday night in Madison, Wisconsin, Iowa will need to vastly improve on that performance, as the Badgers are known for their stingy defense and slow tempo of play.  Iowa is tops in the Big Ten and 22nd nationally in scoring offense (80.3) – and that high-powered offense will have to show up.  The Hawkeyes are 10-1 this season when making nine or more 3-pointers in a game.

Iowa already lost to Wisconsin this season, 78-75, in a home game that went to overtime.  In that meeting on Dec. 11, 2022, Iowa starters Kris Murray and Ahron Ulis did not play due to injury.

Wisconsin defeated Iowa, 87-78, last season in the Kohl Center.
