Phyllis Ann Arthur, 86, passed away on December 23, 2022 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center, Mason City, IA.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday March 4, 2023 at the River City Church, 1631 4th St SW #120, Mason City, IA, with Pastor Brian Rezendes officiating.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00am to 11:00am on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the Church.
Phyllis was born in Clarion, IA on July 21, 1936, the daughter of Hartwick Racine and Estella Marie (Smith) Wigg. Her early childhood years were spent growing up on Lake Cornelia, where she had many happy memories. Her family later moved to Clarion where she graduated from Clarion High School’s Class of 1954. Phyllis was known for her beautiful singing voice, she performed in school musicals, church, and weddings. Phyllis was grateful that she had been brought up in the church as it laid a foundation for her Christian Faith that would guide and sustain her throughout her life. After high school Phyllis worked for Robeson Insurance Agency in Clarion. She credited Marion Robeson for teaching her excellence in her secretarial skills.
On December 29, 1957 in Clarion, Phyllis was united in marriage to Elmer Arthur. This union was blessed with six children. Elmer and Phyllis settled in Mason City where they raised their family. Phyllis was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She also worked for the North Iowa Library Extension, Patterson James Funeral Home, and the Cerro Gordo County Courthouse where she retired from in 2002.
Phyllis was an avid reader, she also enjoyed arts and crafts, bird watching from the comfort of her recliner and going for car rides. She especially treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren. Phyllis will be remembered for having a great sense of humor, being a good listener and making people feel special.
Those left to cherish her memory, daughter, Sandra Neuberger and her husband, Douglas of Clear Lake; her son, James Arthur of Mason City, her son, Jefferey Arthur and his wife, Jacquelyn of Mason City; her grandchildren, Rachelle Moeller and her husband Michael of Clear Lake, Spencer Neuberger and his wife Holly of Clear Lake, Elliott Neuberger of Clear Lake, Dylan McLaughlin of Mason City, and Andrew Arthur of Mason City; her great grandchildren, George, Beatrice and Caroline Moeller, and Violet and Sonny Neuberger; as well as many special sister in-laws, brother in-laws and nieces and nephews.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter in infancy, Linda Sue; her daughter, Sheryl Arthur, her son, Joel Arthur, her former husband, Elmer Arthur, her grandson, Kyle Arthur, her granddaughter, Olivia Neuberger, her sister, Marjorie Trees, her sister, Donna Orte, her brother, Robert Wigg.
