Lee Edward Evans, son of Laurence and Phyllis (Krueger) Evans, was born on September 12, 1958 in Estherville, Iowa. He passed away at his home in Armstrong, Iowa on February 11, 2023 at the age of 64 years.

Lee attended and graduated from Armstrong High School in 1976. Following high school, his love of farming began by working in the fields with his dad. Lee was happiest while he was in the combine or in the air; while he gave up the plane to be grounded with his children, his love of aviation also persisted.

His union with Linda Hilpiper (Wee) in the summer of 1987 was eventually dissolved but it was the beginning of a beautiful legacy. Lee loved nothing more than being a father and later a grandfather. Christmas time was a favorite to gather everyone around and make sure they knew the reason for the season.

Lee was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong. He built community all around him by being the first to help out a neighbor and family; cracking jokes all along the way to see someone else smile brought him joy. Lee was always on the move between traveling on family cruises, to Florida, and trips to the casino. He was always in attendance for all of his children’s games, even if it meant only being there for a part of it, so he could make another. His smile was biggest with a winning day!

Left to cherish Lee’s memory are his children Tylor Evans, Brady Evans, Brandon (Nora) Evans, Logan (Vladimir) Aksenov; and 13 grandchildren Jefferson, Harper, Collins, Piper, Asher, Emma, Cade, Rebekah, Carlos, Alaina, Evan, Alex, and Baby. He is survived by his siblings Mary (Roger) Tirevold of Armstrong, Janet Isaacson (Dwight Kiem) of Mason City, and Carol (Greg) Sukalski of Fairmont, MN; and adopted sister, Diane Klute of Brookings, SD.

Lee is preceded in death by his parents Laurence and Phyllis; his sister Marsha Evans; and brother Larry Evans.
