The Cyclones had a tough shooting day at West Virginia on Saturday, falling 73-60 in Morgantown.

Key Storylines

The Cyclones struggled from 3-point range, hitting only 5-of-30 (16.7 percent) from 3-point range.

ISU has traditionally been one of the top 3-point shooting teams in the country, with its 8.7 3-pointers per game this season ranking 13th in the country. The Cyclones, who have 191 3-pointers on the season, have hit at least 200 3-pointers in an NCAA-record 20-straight seasons.

At WVU, Iowa State was led by Ashley Joens, who just missed out on a double-double with a team-high 17 points and nine rebounds.

Joens leads the Big 12 and ranks 18th nationally with her 20.0 points per game. She is also the squad’s leader from 3-pioint range, hitting 59 treys on the season.

The senior from Iowa City is also a frequent name on the national awards lists. Last week she was named to the Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Midseason Team.

Emily Ryan finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists at WVU. The Cyclone point guard is second in the Big 12 and eighth nationally with her 7.0 assists per game.

Ryan is also one of the top free throw shooters in the country, ranking third with her 92.5 percent work at the charity stripe.

As a team, Iowa State ranks second in the country with an 80.0 team free throw percentage. In addition to Ryan’s work, Lexi Donarski shoots 91.3 percent from the line.

Denae Fritz finished with 11 points at West Virginia, including going 7-of-8 from the FT line.

With a win on Monday, head coach Bill Fennelly would become the 27th coach in NCAA Women’s Basketball history to reach 750 career wins, the 13th to get all 750 at Division I programs and would be one of nine active coaches at 750 victories.

The Iowa State women’s basketball team has the nation’s longest streak for consecutive games with a 3-pointer, sitting at 884.
