Joni Lynn Wineman was born January 22, 1955 in Mason City, the daughter of Elmer and Nancy (Catagnus) Wineman. Spending her whole life in Mason City, Joni graduated from Newman High School, later continuing her education at Hamilton College. She utilized her education in data processing and began work at Unisis. She worked until their closing, transferring to Alexander until her health pushed her into retirement in 1999. One of Joni’s greatest joys in life was becoming a mother. Watching Jessica grow and excel brought her great joy. As the family grew, so did her love. She welcomed in a son-in-law, David, whom she loved as her own and her beloved grandchildren who were the light of her life.

She was one of the Chicago Cubs’ biggest fans! Memorabilia and keepsakes adorned her home and closets. It was a well known rule, that you never interrupted a Cubs’ game. Through Joni’s health struggles, it was her love and devotion to her family that pushed her through. Her loving, selfless heart was often protected by a strong-willed personality. She never let illness, nor struggle hold her back, and always found the strength to push through the most difficult decisions.

Those left to continue her story are her daughter, Jessica (David) Dana of Mason City; grandchildren, Jared, Jasmine, and Caitlyn Dana; siblings, Cheryl Voigt and her daughters, Teresa (Rich) McDaniel and Vickie (Mike) Schmidt, Kathleen (Richard) Snell and their daughters, Nikki (James) Thompson-Kuhn and Stephanie (Jason) Bryan, Denise Ward and her children, Randy (Sammy) Ward and Frankie Ward, and Ricky (Janet) Wineman and their children, Ashley (Brandon) Schmidt and Jared Luecht; an uncle, Ralph Wineman; her extra family, Ann Foster, Gerri and David Dunn; as well as many extended family members and cherished friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents; uncle, Richard Wineman; aunts, Morna Kimberling and Aunt Happy Wineman.
