Michael Moe, 62, of Algona, passed away on Saturday January 28, 2023 at his home. Visitation will be 4-6 PM Thursday at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona, with military rites conducted by the Seely-Walsh American Legion Post #425 of Whittemore at 4 PM.
Michael Timothy Moe, the son of Richard and Marlis (Barber) Moe, was born on March 10, 1960 in Algona. He graduated from Algona High School in 1978. Mike served in the U.S. Navy from 1981-86 and the Rhode Island National Guard from 2004-2008. He then worked for Raytheon on the SBX-1 missile defense platform. A few years ago Mike moved back to Algona to be closer to his family.
Mike was a member of the Seely-Walsh American Legion Post #425 of Whittemore. He enjoyed deep sea diving, traveling the world, fishing, golfing, being outdoors and in his younger years, running and bicycling. Mike’s passion was riding his Harley motorcycle.
Mike is survived by his sons, Kirk Moe of Waukee and Eric Moe of Algona; a step-daughter, Amanda Lee of Florida; two grandchildren; his mother, Marlis Moe of Algona; brothers, Lindsey (Janelle) Moe of Algona and Mark Moe of Algona; and a sister, Tracy (Mike) Rusch of Minneapolis. He was preceded in death by his father.
