Jeffery James Waters, 80, of Mason City, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at MercyOne Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Jeffery James Waters, 80, of Mason City, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at MercyOne Hospice Inpatient Unit.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2023, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave. with Rev. Neil Manternach officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service time. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Hillsboro Memorial Garden in Brandon, FL. Memorials may be directed to the family of Jeffery Waters.

He graduated from Osage High School in 1961 and Mason City Junior College (NIACC) in 1963. He attended UNI until his father became ill when he returned home to help on the farm. He later joined the Air Force where he spent his whole 4 years in Texas. He met Rose Burris when he was home on a leave. They were married in 1966.

After his military service, they moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They later moved to Florida because Rose did not like the winters in Iowa. After Rose passed away and his mother’s eyesight began to fail, he returned to Iowa to help her.

He met Kathleen Giese at the Surf Ballroom and they were married in 2002. They enjoyed attending 50’s 60’s dances at the Surf Ballroom, especially the Winter Dance party every year.

He worked various jobs, the most recent being Kraft Foods in Mason City. He was a care giver. If anyone needed anything he was there to help, especially his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved peanut butter, jelly, and cheese sandwiches.

Jeffery is survived by his wife Kathleen, daughters Candy (Rick) Cartwright and Julie (Troy) Trumblee, step children Victoria Solomon, Paul Giese (Sara Pals), Jacqueline Giese (Chris Kingery), 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 8 brothers and sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Rose, granddaughter Chanda Cartwright, son-in-law Troy Uhde, sister-in-law Linda Waters and niece Debbie Burk.
