College Basketball: #12 Iowa State stumbles to Missouri, 78-61, in Big 12/SEC Challenge road game

COLUMBIA, MISSOURI - The #12 Cyclones went into the hostile nest of the Missouri Tigers and were thoroughly beaten Saturday, 78-61, in a SEC/Big 12 Challenge game.

Holmes led Iowa State (15-5) with 19 points, and Gabe Kalscheur added 14.

Missouri led, 42-32, at halftime.

Tre King made his first start as a Cyclone and the 78th of his career.

Robert Jones played in his 100th career game, including 54 at Iowa State.

Gabe Kalscheur surpassed 4,500 minutes for his career.

Mizzou’s seven first half 3-pointers are tied for the most Iowa State has allowed in the first half this year (Villanova and Iowa).

Mizzou is 15-0 this year and won 19-straight games when scoring 70 points.

Iowa State committed a season-high 19 turnovers against the Tigers.

The last time the Cyclones gave up 14 3-pointers in a game was when TCU netted 14 3-pointers on January 14, 2020.

Iowa State will travel to Lubbock to face Texas Tech on Monday night. Tipoff between the Cyclones and Red Raiders is set for 8 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN2.
