CEDAR FALLS – A man told cops he is an undercover Waterloo policeman and after they checked him out, arrested the suspect for impersonating an officer.

On January 24, 2023, Cedar Falls police officers were called to the Cedar Falls Public Safety Center to speak to a male claiming to be a victim of an assault. Through the initial interview of the male, he made claims to the responding officer he recently worked for the Waterloo Police Department. On January 25, investigators would determine that the male was claiming to be a Waterloo Police Department undercover officer to several people on several different occasions. Investigators would later interview the male, and he was taken into custody without incident.

Mitchil Dayvid Thuesen, age 21, has been arrested for the following:

– Impersonating a Public Official (Aggravated Misdemeanor)

Cedar Falls Police were assisted by Black Hawk County Dispatch, Waterloo Police Department, and UNI DPS.

Cedar Falls Police are encouraging anyone who had contact with Thuesen, and he told them he was a police officer, to contact department investigators.
