Inayah Mariana Le Michelle Huertas passed away peacefully in her loving parent’s arms on January 9th 2023. Inayah was born 5 weeks premature on October 12, 2022 at MercyOne Des Moines Hospital. She was diagnosed 2 hours before she was born with Hydrops, and was later diagnosed with Congenital Chylothorax. Inayah spent 2 months in the Des Moines MercyOne Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, then was transferred to the Iowa City Neonatal Intensive Care Unit on December 2nd and was there until she passed.

During her three months on Earth, Inayah touched many lives and was deeply loved by family, friends, nurses, and doctors. In Des Moines, Inayah loved looking out her window from her bed, and in Iowa City she enjoyed watching her mobile that was attached to her bed. She also enjoyed occasional snuggles from mom and dad when they were able to hold her, seeing and meeting family on FaceTime, holding Mom and Dad’s hands, and listening to Mom and Dad read books to her. Inayah was very strong and a good fighter throughout her life, her disease caused many complications that she unfortunately could not overcome. Her parents are blessed and grateful to have been able to hold her and make her passing as peaceful as possible.

Inayah is survived by her parents Abbigail Dahn and Jose Huertas, grandparent’s Tara Ross, Michelle Portela, great grandparent’s Carmen Cruze, Gladys Oliveras, Miguel Portela, aunts and uncles Austin Green, Gabrielle Evans, Andrea Dahn, Julio Huertas, Allison Dahn, Noemi Huertas, Paola Huertas along with many cousins.

Inayah is preceded in death by her great-grandmother Sandy Burke, and grandfather Julio Huertas.
