Heather McKenney, age 39 of Humboldt, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt.

Heather McKenney, age 39 of Humboldt, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital in Humboldt. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Oak Hill Church in Humboldt. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Oak Hill Church in Humboldt. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials in Heather’s honor to Moffitt Animal Shelter in Humboldt. There will be a table set up for any donations that you wish to bring for Moffitt Animal Shelter. Services will be live streamed on Lentz Funeral Home’s website: https://www.hdezwebcast.com/show/heather-mckenney.

Heather Lee McKenney, the daughter of Kenneth and Margaret (Lee) McKenney, was born on August 29, 1983 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She attended Humboldt Schools and was in the graduating class of 2002. Heather then furthered her education at Iowa Central Community College. She was most recently employed by the Humboldt School System and loved her job with the food service program. Heather also worked at Hy-Vee for many years. She loved people and the friendships she made.

Heather had a huge heart and even bigger love for animals. She was the biggest advocate for the Moffitt Animal Shelter in Humboldt where she spent many hours volunteering. Heather was also a member of the Humboldt Lion’s Club where she served as the President.

Left to cherish Heather’s memory are her son, Landon of Humboldt; father, Kenneth (Kelly) McKenney of Otho; mother, Margaret McKenney of Humboldt; sister, Laura McKenney of Cedar Falls; step sisters Anne (Jason Carney) Ostwald, Shaunya (Aaron) Smith, and stepbrother Brandon (Stephanie Schiltz) Ostwald; many nieces and nephews and other family members and friends. She was greeted in Heaven by her grandmother, Marjorie Lee and aunt, Barb Pencook.

Donations or memorials may be made in Heather’s name and directed to the Moffitt Animal Shelter.
