Kathleen Anne Schwickerath Sullivan, 90 years old, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 13, 2023, following a brief illness.

Kathleen was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City, where her life will be celebrated on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Tom Heathershaw officiating. Burial will be at 1:45 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery in New Hampton.

Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, January 20, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be given to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or School in Charles City.

Kathleen was born on a farm outside of Colo, Iowa on December 18, 1932 to Leo and Catherine (Coleman) Schwickerath. She met Don Sullivan through Job Service in Charles City and worked for him for a couple of years before they married on April 1, 1967, and had a loving relationship for forty-three years.

Her greatest joys were going to church, being with family, cooking and baking for her children and grandchildren, playing 500 & euchre, reading, serving as President/Co-President of the St. Francis Circle, and participating in many bible studies. Kathleen worked full-time as an incredibly dedicated Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and prayer warrior. God and family ALWAYS came first – she dedicated her life to serving others and was a living testimony of God’s love, grace, and strength. Her husband often called her his “angel on Earth” – and she truly was.

She left life to be with her heavenly family, including her husband, Donald who passed away in 2010; her parents, Leo and Catherine Schwickerath; her in-laws, Peter and Gertrude Sullivan; her brothers, Francis and Merle Schwickerath; her sister, Marianne Mashek; her brothers-in-law, Don Mashek, Mike Carlin, Lee Sullivan, and Joe Weiland; her sisters-in-law, Margaret Nowicki, Lorraine Potter, and Pauline Guzick.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her four exceedingly blessed children, Carolyn (Jeff) Henry of Cedar Rapids, Mary (Jerry) Meyer of Seward, NE, David Sullivan of Cedar Rapids, and Kathy (Tim) Peterson of Alta. Her nine grandchildren will miss her, Kalese (John), Kestrel (Matthew), Jacob, Joshua (Janelle), Meghan, Henry (Vanessa), Oliver, Nora, and Elsie, as well as her great-granddaughters, Aliya and Eden. Also left to remember her are her brother, Donnie (Donna) Schwickerath, her sister, Dorothy Carlin, and her sister-in-law, Karen Schwickerath. She had a host of extended family, which included the Bakkens and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends – including her lifelong best friend and classmate, Luella Junko.

To God be the glory for your life, Mom, which was filled with love, compassion, hard work, and sacrifice for us. We love you the most!
