David A. Stucky, 75, of Mason City, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2023 at his home with his family by his side.
In keeping with Dave’s wishes, cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
Dave was born on June 25, 1947 in Red Wing, Minnesota, the son of Samuel and Doris (Butler) Stucky. As a youngster his family moved to Fort Dodge, where he grew up alongside his four siblings. Dave attended and graduated from Fort Dodge High School before enlisting in the United States Army.
Dave honorably served his country for four years, from 1968 until 1971.
For 25 years he worked for Schwan’s Home Delivery, first in Hampton, and then Mason City and Missouri. Following retirement Dave became a familiar face to many as he sold Johanns Sweet Corn during the summer months.
Dave was very family oriented and enjoyed having the whole family over for Sunday dinners. He loved fishing trips to Leach Lake with family and friends, playing Cribbage, gambling, and growing Canna Lilies at his home.
Those grateful in sharing in his life are his wife, Cindy Stucky; children, Rick (Lisa) Simmer Michelle Simmer (Randy Weigel), Chris (Dan) Hempfner, Shane (Carri) Stucky, Stephanie Stucky; 15 grandkids; 11 great grandchildren, with another on the way; siblings, Sue Sherman, Shirley (Bruce) Thompson, and Dean (Denise) Stucky; and sisters in law, Susan (Mike) Frolhing, Virginia Carrott, and Karen Stucky; as well as many nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dale Stucky.
