AMES - An Alabama man was nabbed by cops after allegedly shooting two people at an Ames hotel Saturday.

AMES – An Alabama man was nabbed by cops after allegedly shooting two people at an Ames hotel Saturday.

On Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 11:26 AM, the Ames Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at Quality Inn & Suites, 2601 E. 13th Street. Responding officers located two victims who are being treated at area hospitals. The status of the victims is currently unknown.

The Ames Police Department has one person in custody and continues to investigate the incident. There does not appear to be an ongoing threat to the public.

As a result of the continued investigation, Anthony G. Garner Jr., age 27, of Pine Hill, Alabama, has been arrested and charged with the following: Attempted Murder, a class B felony, Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury, a class C felony, Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury, a class D felony, Going Armed with Intent, a class D felony, and Possession or Carrying of Dangerous Weapon while Intoxicated, a serious misdemeanor.

Garner is in the Story county jail.
