Alexander “Alex” F. Adams, age 95, of Riceville went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 2, 2023, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage surrounded by his family.

Alexander “Alex” F. Adams, age 95, of Riceville went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 2, 2023, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage surrounded by his family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville, IA, with Fr. Jerry Kopacek presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery Riceville where military honors will be rendered. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, at Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, with a scripture reading at 4:45 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Alex was born on November 22, 1927 to Edward and Pauline (Hemann) Adams in Meyer, Iowa. He was the middle child of 9 children. Alex was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He worked in the motor pool while stationed in Hawaii and Guam.

On March 27, 1951 Alex married Lucille Reicherts at St. Peters Catholic Church in New Haven. They had 4 children, two boys and two girls. Alex and Lucille farmed until November, 1982 when they moved to Riceville. Alex and Lucille along with family spent a week each summer fishing at Horseshoe Lake Resort, Richmond, MN. This tradition went on from 1986 to 2004. Sadly, Lucille passed away in June, 2005.

In 2012 Alex found companionship with his special friend, Mary Ann Vote. They spent many hours together and attended many family gatherings.

Alex was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Riceville where he was the first to serve as the eucharistic minister. He served for 26 years. Alex was a member of the Riceville American Legion for 46 continuous years. Alex also served on the Riceville City Council for many years.

Alex will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his children: Rick (Catherine) Adams, Gary (Sharon) Adams, Sheryl (Tim) Noble, and Deb (Larry) Moore all of Riceville; 14 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren (expecting two more this year); One great-great-grandchild; Special Friend Mary Ann Vote; Two brothers; Three sisters; Two sister-in-laws; many nieces and nephews.

Alex was preceded in death by his wife Lucille, his parents, a sister, two brothers, and a great-granddaughter Isabelle Moore.
