Lora Jane was born on November 6, 1931, at home in Dumont, to Lloyd and Charlotte (Turner) Faber. She graduated from Dumont High School with the class of 1949. Lora Jane continued her education at Westmar College in Le Mars and Broadlawns Nursing School in Des Moines to become a Registered Nurse. For years, she worked at the Hampton Clinic with Drs. Benge, Randall, and Munns before transitioning to Dr. Dorothy Heuermann’s nurse at the Franklin Medical Center.

Lora Jane met Jim Hanson of Dumont and they were united in marriage on August 28, 1954, at Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church in Dumont (now known as New Hope United Methodist Church).

Lora Jane enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, sewing, and tending to her flowers, iris being her favorite. She was a historian and loved to take pictures, collect photos and keep newspaper clippings of neighbors, friends and family.
