Annette Elise (Wick) Dawson, 75, of Mason City, IA passed away December 23, 2022, in Mason City.
Annette was born December 29, 1946, in Clear Lake, IA, daughter of Ellis and Margarete Wick. She grew up there and graduated from Clear Lake High school. She met and fell in love with William Jay Dawson at a rival football game with Mason City. A cinematic love story that led to a near thirty year marriage. Together they raised their son Matthew. Shortly after his birth, William joined the U.S Airforce. He was stationed in Germany and his family joined him there in 1968. They resided there with him for ten years before moving back to Clear Lake. Both Annette and William began taking college courses after he had been discharged and they were later accepted at Iowa State University. There Annette earned her degree in Computer Science. Both Annette and William were hired at General Dynamics in San Diego, California and she worked as a computer programmer for twenty-five years. She later returned to Iowa and made her home in Mason City.
Annette was an avid reader and gardener. Home was where she wanted to be and you could always find her reading a book. She also loved to cook and was always looking to expand her palette. Annette also picked up sewing from her mother. It wasn’t uncommon for her to make her own clothing or finish sewing patterns from scratch.
Annette is survived by her son, Matthew Dawson of Santa Rosa, CA; brothers, Dave Wick of Virginia Beach, VA and Tom Wick of Mason City.
Annette was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Marguerite.
