Donald Mankle, age 90, of Curlew, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022 at his home. Services are currently pending with the Lentz Funeral Home of Mallard.
Donald Charles Mankle, the son of Charles Richard and Edith Otelia (Oertley) Mankle, was born on August 16, 1932 in Havelock, Iowa. He graduated from Mallard High School in 1950. After High School, Donald served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. July 2, 1955 Donald was united in marriage with Mary Lou Shipler at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Donald had farmed, worked as a farm hand, truck driver and the local elevator. He was a member of the Mallard American Legion Post #345. Donald enjoyed Golfing, Hunting and spending time with his family.
Left to cherish Donald’s memory are his sons, Greg (Pat) Mankle of Seattle, WA, Brian (Julie Jefferson) Mankle of Sweet Home, OR, Bruce (Dee) Mankle of Clive and Kelly (Kathy) Mankle of Bellingham, WA; grandchildren, Brandon, Brett, Hannah, Thomas, Taylor and Morgan; and siblings, Orville Mankle of Sargent, NE and Carol (Roger) Miller of Bradford, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Edith; wife, Mary Lou; sisters, Erma Pullen and Vera Spiva; and brothers, Jack, Ralph and Jerry Mankle.
