George C. Kauffman, Jr., 73 of Kensett died Saturday, December 17, 2022 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
A Celebration of his life will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Bride Colonial Chapel, 110 East Spring Street, Manly, IA 50456.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 and continue until the service.
The son of George C. Sr. and Blanche (Twigg) Kauffman, George Jr. was born April 12, 1949 in Mechanicsburg, PA. He graduated from Cumberland Valley High School in 1967 and soon after entered into the United States Army where he served as a cook. Following his honorable discharge he married JoEllen, who passed away. Later he married Tanya (Leese) Bowles and the couple had two children, Jennifer and Tammy. George traveled with the carnival for almost 12 years. On August 24, 1985 George married the love of his life, Linda M. Harris, in Nashua. Together they had two children, Tiffany and Josh. George worked in various places, most notably at Kraft and later at Carol George, from which he retired.
George always enjoyed the outdoors. Whether it was time on the lake fishing, camping with the family or just watching the birds, he looked forward to being outside. He was a huge NASCAR and Pittsburgh Steelers fan and over the years had collected numerous pieces of memorabilia. George enjoyed woodworking and creating pieces to share with family and friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, or at least “knew a guy” that could take care of it. But most of all, George loved his family. Becoming a grandpa was one of his greatest loves and he cherished time spent with them.
