Betty J. Weipert, 89, passed away Monday, December 12, 2022 at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home.

A Celebration of Betty’s Life will be held Friday afternoon, December 16, 2022 at the American Legion, 504 Main Street, Osage, from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm.

The oldest of nine, Betty Jane was born July 25, 1933 in Manly, IA to Donald and Florence (Cobeen) Campbell. She grew up in Manly and attended Osage High School.

Betty was united in marriage to William Laughlin and together they were blessed with a son, Darrell. Shortly after William died in active duty while serving his country in Korea, and Betty became a widow at the young age of 19.

As the best man at their wedding, Arthur Weipert promised William that if anything should happen to him while serving that he would look after Betty. He held true to his word and on July 26, 1953 Betty and Arthur were united in marriage in Reno, Nevada.

The family spent a brief amount of time in California while Arthur completed his duty to the United States Marine Corps before returning to Osage to raise their family. They would be blessed with nine more children, Robert, Donna, Steven, Becky, Mona, Keith, Mike, Brenda, and Brian.

Betty kept busy raising her children in earlier years and in 1984 Arthur, Betty, and Brian moved to Prescott, AZ. She returned to Osage in 1991 following Arthur’s death. Betty kept busy serving as a volunteer for Mercy Hospital and worked as a nurse’s aide for the Faith Lutheran Home.

She cherished the time spent with her family and loved watching it grow to include grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her children, Darrell Laughlin, Robert Weipert, Donna (Don) Granahan, Steven (Kathy) Weipert, Becky (Steve) Graves, Mona Weipert, Keith (Renae) Weipert, Mike Weipert, Brenda (John) Cramer, and Brian (Kimberly) Weipert; 65 grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as her siblings, Barb (Ted) Heimer, Mary Lou (Terry) Dust, and Jimmy Campbell.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Florence; husbands, William and Arthur; and siblings, Larry Campbell, Beverly Riehm, Kenny Campbell, Gerald Campbell, and Keith Campbell.
