Greene-Rozella DeVries 102, died peacefully Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at her home.

A funeral service will be held 10: 30 a.m. Tuesday, November 29th, 2022, at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel 310 1st Ave. North, Clear Lake, with Pastor Al Berg officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Thornton, Iowa.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Ave. North, Clear Lake.

Rozella Esther was born November 5, 1920, in Swaledale, IA, the daughter of Jens and Adaline (Baker) Pederson. Rose grew up on the family farm attending country school.

Rose was united in marriage to Leslie Dirks on October 18, 1941, in Rockwell, Iowa; to this union three children were born Donna, Wayne, Dallas. Les was in the United States Navy, the family was stationed in several places until returning to the Thornton area. Les passed away in 1964.

On March 26, 1976, Rose was united in marriage to Edwin DeVries in Dumont. Rose and Ed made their home on the family farm in Greene.

Rose worked at the Sale Barn in Waverly as a cook for several years and Lake Crest Café in Clear Lake.

Rose enjoyed going out for coffee, gardening, playing Rumi and dice games and cooking. Rose loved to bake for her family their favorites include her banana bread, caramel rolls, oyster stew and chili!

Rose is survived by her son Wayne (Connie) Dirks; 4 step- daughters DeeAnn Freerks, Barbara (Edward) Brinkman, Joyce Henning and Esther Perkins; daughter-in-law Sheila Dirks, brother-in-law Calvin (Judy) DeVries; along with numerous Grandchildren; Great-Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Rozella is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Les Dirks (1964) and Edwin DeVries (2022); 3 sisters Viola, Vietta, Verta Mae; son Dallas Dirks and daughter Donna Martin.
