A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Divine Mercy Parish ~ St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Divine Mercy Parish ~ St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph.
Donald Urban Zeller was born September 29, 1955, in Algona, Iowa, the son of Alfred and Magdalena (Kramer) Zeller. He grew up on a farm near St. Joe. Don attended St. Joseph School and then went on to attend Garrigan High School graduating in 1974.
After high school he farmed, raised pigs and sheep. In addition to farming, he had other jobs throughout the years, bus driver, rural mail carrier and longtime custodian of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and parish center.
Don had many talents and impacted so many lives with his willingness to share all he had. He spent many days with his Aunt Susie baking cookies for friends, special events and area businesses. His home was a gathering place for 4-Hers and teaching youth how to create beautiful woodworking projects that would last a lifetime.
Don was an avid fisherman, even loved ice fishing. He taught many young people how to fish by inviting them to jump in the boat and spend the day with him. Once the fish were caught, countless friends were welcomed to his famous fish fries.
Donald died Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge, Iowa, at the age of 67.
He is survived by three brothers, Gary Zeller and wife Lisa of Bode; Duane Zeller of Humboldt; Gerald Zeller and wife Lisa of Algona; sister-in-law, Dianne Zeller of Des Moines nine nieces and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mike Zeller and sister, Karen Zeller.
