Gov. Reynolds appoints Sinnard, Ranes as Iowa Judges

DES MOINES – Gov. Kim Reynolds announced her appointment of Charles Sinnard as a district judge in Judicial Election District 5A.

DES MOINES – Gov. Kim Reynolds announced her appointment of Charles Sinnard as a district judge in Judicial Election District 5A.

Sinnard, of Urbandale, Iowa, currently serves as the Dallas County Attorney and previously served as an Assistant Dallas County Attorney. Sinnard received his undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa and his law degree from the Drake University Law School.

Sinnard fills the vacancy created by the upcoming retirement of District Court Judge Martha Mertz. Judicial Election District 5A includes Dallas, Guthrie, Jasper, Madison, Marion, and Warren counties.

Gov. Reynolds appoints Katie Ranes as District Associate Probate Judge

Reynolds also announced her appointment of Katie Ranes as a district associate probate judge in Judicial Election District 5C.

Ranes, of Waukee, Iowa, currently serves as a magistrate in Judicial Election District 5C. She received her undergraduate degree from Roanoke College in Virginia and her law degree from the Drake University Law School.

Ranes fills a vacancy created by the retirement of District Associate Probate Judge Craig Block. Judicial Election District 5C includes Polk County.
