Women’s College Basketball: No. 4/6 Iowa def. Belmont, 73-62

IOWA CITY - Iowa (4-1, 0-0) defeated Belmont (1-3, 0-0), 3-0 inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Sunday afternoon.

All-American Caitlin Clark scored 33 points and it led all scorers in the game.

It was her 12th 30-point performance in her career. Registered a new season-high.

She has registered 20 or more points in all five games this season.

Clark had an efficient afternoon from the free throw line (10-11).

Iowa was efficient from the charity stripe converting 18-of-23.

The game saw seven ties and four lead changes.

Belmont was tabbed as the Missouri Valley favorite this season.

In the second quarter, Iowa held Belmont to seven points which ties for its second lowest offensive output in a quarter this season.

Clark’s three threes moved her into 6th place for career 3-pointers made with 222. Gabbie Marshall moved up into 13th all-time with 139 three pointers. McKenna Warnock has 131 career three’s which has her at 14th all-time.

Warnock now holds sole possession of 20th all-time in career rebounds with 578. Monika Czinano ranks 21st all-time with 576 rebounds.

Iowa is 3-0 against MVC opponents this season.

The fourth-ranked Hawkeyes return to action on Nov. 25, when they play Oregon State in the Phil Knight Legacy Tournament. Tipoff against the Beavers is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (CT). The game will broadcast on ESPNU and on the Hawkeye Radio Network.
