Lyneen R. McLaughlin, 48 of Aplington and formerly of Mason City passed away peacefully Monday, October 31, 2022 at the Maple Manor Village Care Center in Aplington, IA.

The family plans to celebrate her life in a service in the future.

Lyneen Renee Bass was born January 8, 1974 the daughter of James Bass and Marcine Dana. Growing up in Charles City and later Plymouth, Lyneen graduated from Mason City High School. Following graduation, she cared for others the best way she knew how, as a CNA at local nursing homes. She was blessed with two children, Lesley and Maximus “Max”. The family made their home in the Grafton area before Lyneen’s terrible accident.

She was a collector of many things, but always had an eye for Coca Cola keepsakes. Coke items adorned every inch of her home and she loved sharing them with others. Lyneen loved animals and always had a special place in her heart for them. Most of all, Lyneed loved time spent with family and cherished memories together. She was known for her tenacity, though it often came off as stubbornness. Lyneed knew that her way was the right way, and never backed down, no matter how hard the situation.

Those left to celebrate her life are her children, Lesley (Jeremy) Arndt, of Waterloo and Maximus “Max” McLaughlin of Grafton; beloved granddaughter, Addison Greve; siblings, Mike Nicholson, Ashley Morrison and Terry (Cindy) Bass; father, James (Penny) Bass; as well as numerology nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Preceding her in death are her mother, Marcine Dana-Coburn, brother Scott Bass, step-father, Michael Nicholson, nephews, Craig J. Bass, Michael and Isaiah Morrison, grandmothers, Dorothy Nicholson and Mildred Dana; grandfathers, Lester Nicholson and Gale Dana.
