NORWALK, IOWA – Police have arrested a suspect in the stabbing murder of an Iowa woman.

The Norwalk Police Department, in conjunction with the Division of Criminal Investigations, have charged Antonio Lavell Lewis, 38, with Murder in the 1st Degree, in relation to the death of Karisa Shendelman.
On September 15, 2022 at approximately 12:30 am, officers responded to an apartment at 608 Knoll Drive for a report of a stabbing. On arrival, officers located Lewis inside the apartment. He was detained at that time and arrested on outstanding, unrelated warrants out of Marshall County.
Officers then located 31-year-old Karisa Shendelman, deceased inside the apartment. She died from multiple stab wounds, according to a police statement.
Lewis is currently being held on the charge of Murder in the 1st Degree and unrelated Marshall County charges.
