I am writing this not only as a friend of Chris Watts, but also as a former resident of Cerro Gordo County for over 40 years.
During that time, the position of County Supervisor seemed more like a “good ol’ boys”club. Not to say there was anything bad happening, but lots of dyed in the wool politicking going on. It was difficult to get elected into the club and once you were in office it became very difficult to lose that position.
Chris fought for the position with tenacity! That’s Chris to a “T”. He fought for saving money for the citizens of Cerro Gordo County! Currently to the tune of over $5,000,000.00.
He promised to set a 3 term limit for himself to avoid the career politician syndrome that has affected not only county, but state, and for sure the Federal Government. While doing that he has led the way for pay freezes for the County Supervisor position. He always felt it was too high for the time put in, but certainly hasn’t shirked his duties in office!
Mr. Watts has always been interested in the infrastructure of the county. Especially the rural bridges and roads. Trying to improve the county fairgrounds to make it a viable part of the area and to help make it a more profitable part of the community. Closing and even selling property, getting it back on the tax rolls, and reducing their costs on the county budget.
Yes, I am a friend of Chris’ and have been for over 40 years, but that only makes it easier for me to see and respect all the hard work he has undertaken for your county!
Don’t forget to vote November 8th, and please consider casting your vote for Chris Watts for Cerro Gordo County Supervisor to continue saving your tax payer dollars!
