Elaine Eckebrecht, age 94, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 25, 2022.

Elaine Eckebrecht, age 94, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 25, 2022. She was born to Ella and Edward Artes, on August 22, 1928, in New Hampton, IA. She married the love of her life, Walter Eckebrecht on August 20, 1950. They had four children, before he passed away in 1969, when she became a single parent. Living in Charles City, IA most of her life, Elaine spent her career at First Security Bank. She loved nothing more in this world than her four children. Her family and friends admired her strength, independence and focus on caring for her family. She enjoyed quilting and sewing, routinely gifting her creations to loved ones. Elaine also spent her time caring for her grandchildren, enjoying time with friends, baking, reading, traveling, and cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Elaine leaves behind her children Terri Fecht, Randall (Manoli) Eckebrecht, Steven (Betty) Eckebrecht, and Carol (William) Oldfield. She is also survived by her six grandchildren Andy (Emily) Fecht, Cris (Elizabeth) Eckebrecht, Walter Eckebrecht, Kari (Shannon) Oldfield-Tabbert, Kim (Joe) Carfizzi, and Kory Oldfield and 6 great-grandchildren Cris, Juan, Ivan, Owen, Allison, and Atticus. All of these people she loved and touched deeply. She is preceded in death by her husband Walter; parents, Ella and Edward Artes; parents-in-law Julius and Lydia Eckebrecht; siblings Richard (Mildred) Artes and Maxine (Wylie) Griffith; and son-in-law Glenn Fecht.

A celebration of life will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, 200 S Main St, Charles City, Iowa on Monday, November 7, 2022, at 10:30 AM and visitation will be one hour before the memorial service at the church. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to Rochester Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (559 20th St SW, Rochester, MN 55902) or Waterloo Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (501 East Donald Street Waterloo, Iowa 50703).
