OBIT: John Erbe

John Harvey “Flaps” Erbe, 64, of rural Ridgeway passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 7, 2022. John was born on August 19, 1958 to Dale & Geneva (Adams) Erbe in Mountain View, Missouri. His family moved to Iowa when he was young. John graduated from Osage High School in 1976.

John was a jack of all trades, with over the road truck driving his favorite occupation. In his later years, he enjoyed making fishing jigs and selling them at swap meets.

John had a passion for the outdoors – fishing, hunting, camping and gardening. He enjoyed anything related to automobile or tractor mechanics. He was an active member of the Chester/Lime Springs Fish & Game Club.

John was never at a loss for words, always having a hearty laugh for family and friends. He may have been a little bossy and demanding at times, but he had a heart of gold. If you were ever watching a show or movie with John, we hope you had already seen it, because he was an active commentator and an animated participant.

John is survived by his partner in crime and love, Jolene Lammers, 4 bonus children, Lisa (Jason) Peterson of Hanska, MN, Stacy (Nathan) Shaw of Morristown, MN, Stephanie Lammers of Lakeville, MN and Jeremy Lammers of Woodbury, MN; 2 grandchildren, Cora and Ivy Shaw; 1 sister, Marie (Rob) Morterud of Bayfield, CO, 2 brothers, Jim (Diane) Erbe of New Albin, IA and Joe Erbe of Stacyville, IA, numerous nieces and nephews, an aunt and loads of cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents and stillborn son.
