WEBSTER COUNTY, IOWA – A Northern Iowa man has been sent to prison for over 80 years for sex offenses.

District Court Judge John Flynn sentenced Paul Eran Peterson of Duncombe to 82 years in prison for his convictions earlier this year on multiple counts of sexual abuse and other sexually-related offenses. This was the maximum possible sentence for these convictions permitted by law. At sentencing, Judge Flynn stated, in part, “One of the major concerns is to protect the community and a lengthy prison sentence is how that occurs, I also need to send a message to the community that similar conduct cannot be tolerated and will not be tolerated.”

The State of Iowa was represented at sentencing by Assistant Webster County Attorney, Brad M. McIntyre. The State was represented at trial by Assistant County Attorneys Bailey K. Taylor and Brad M. McIntyre. This case was investigated by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigation Division of the Fort Dodge Police Department and the Webster County Attorney’s Office Investigator.
