Northern Iowa man hurt in motorcycle accident near Ventura

VENTURA – A Northern Iowa man was hurt in a motorcycle accident near Ventura Saturday afternoon.

On July 2, 2022, at approximately 4:34 PM, Cerro Gordo county deputies were dispatched to the area of 170th Street and east of Cardinal Ave. for a report of a single operator accident with injuries. Upon the arrival of deputies on the scene, the rider was unconscious and breathing laying in the north ditch. The 2006 Harley Davidson driven by 31-year-old Robert Summers of Belmond, Iowa, was traveling westbound on 170th when the bike and rider left the travel portion of the roadway and entered the north ditch. Summers was thrown from the bike and came to rest in the ditch. Summers was life flighted by Mercy One Air Med. to the Mercy One ER in Mason City with unknown injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate the accident.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Ventura Fire, Clear Lake EMT’s and Merc One Air Med.
