Deane Loren Haatvedt, 84, of Estherville, Iowa, passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, where he resided for the past four years. Deane was born August 15, 1937 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Henry and Esther (Thorsbakken) Haatvedt of Calendar, IA. Deane had a sister Marlene Ann, two years older and a sister, Sherry Lee, ten years younger. A sister Florence Mae, between Deane and Sherry was stillborn.
Deane graduated from Calendar High School in 1955. He then continued to live on the family farm and started an upholstery shop. He later worked for the Webster County MVD for many years. In the later years he worked as a painter until he retired. During his retirement years he enjoyed camping in southwestern US.
Deane remained single his life. He moved to Estherville in 1989 and learned how to “garage sale” here.
Preceded Deane in death is his parents, Henry and Esther Haatvedt; sisters Marlene Ann, Sherry Lee, and an infant sister Florence Mae.
Deane is survived by special friends Tom and Sue Koons.
Inurnment will be at Vinje Cemetery in Callender, Iowa near his mother.
