OBIT: Marilyn “Tootie” Kolb

Marilyn “Tootie” Kolb, 85, of Charles City, passed away Friday, June 17, 2022 at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City with Pastor Russ Leeper of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the start of the service on Wednesday.

Marilyn Jane (Slinger) Kolb, the daughter of Harold and Carrie (Melbinger) Slinger, was born on April 26, 1937 in Charles City. She graduated from Charles City High School. On July 16, 1974 Tootie was united in marriage to Harlyn Kolb.
Tootie worked at Family Credit Union in Charles City for many years. She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Tootie loved traveling the world with Harlyn, bowling, and playing Bridge and Sudoku.

Living family members include her husband of 48 years, Harlyn; children: Kelly (Jan) Christensen of Charles City and Kim (fiancé Joseph Giordano) Christensen of Montgomery, Illinois; stepchildren: Lora (Paul) Rustad of Sacred Heart, Minnesota and Teresa (Randy) Sietsema of Waseca, Minnesota; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings: Patricia McCauley, Jack Slinger, and Terry Slinger; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark Alan; and sisters, Lois Heddens and Joyce Whittlake.
