OBIT: Korrine Shirley Olson

Korrine Shirley Olson, 89, of Kensett died Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Kensett with Rev. Linda Johnson-Prestholt officiating. A visitation will be held Wednesday evening at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, Northwood from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Kensett Cemetery.

Korrine was born on January 18, 1933 to Howard and Freda (Legrid) Sorenson. She graduated from Rake High School in 1950. On April 12, 1951 she married Delmer Olson at Zion Lutheran Church in Rake.

Korrine worked at Tom’s Damage and Unclaimed Freight in both Kensett and Manly, Farm Service plant in Kensett and also as teller for Manly State Bank in both Manly and Kensett for 27 years. While she was working at the bank in Kensett she experienced being held up at gun point.

Korrine enjoyed camping, collecting cook books, knitting, spending time with family and friends, spending time in the Nisswa/Brainderd area boating and fishing and then in a cabin of their own on Duck Lake. She was a long time member of Bethany Lutheran Church.

Korrine is survived by her: children, Richard (Pam) Olson of Kensett, Becky (Ed) Avelar of Northwood, and Randy Olson of Mason City; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her: husband Delmer; parents, Howard and Freda Sorenson; sisters, Beverly (Ronald) Flo and Lois (Duane) Eastman; and in-laws, Gibby and Elma Olson.

In lieu of flowers please direct your memorials to Bethany Lutheran Church in Kensett.
